Met Yuka For The First Time

So, suddenly someone texted me on social media.

“Hi, I am stay in Denpasar for studying Bahasa. I want to make friend with local also. Can you help me?”

Oh, she’s Japanese. Actually, I really welcome if someone from different country want to make friend with me. Moreover, she is Japanese and stay in Bali.

Oh just chatting might so bored. I asked her to meet up! Even I have no idea what our meet up will be, because I can’t speak Japanese. She also I think not really good speak Bahasa yet, at that time. But, ya. Just do it.

So, we decided to meet at Centro Discovery Shopping Mall, Kuta, on September 8th 2019. Centro Mall Kuta is located in Kartika Street (Jalan Kartika) Kuta. Near from Waterboom Bali. I choose that place, because they have outdoor stairs, that facing toward the beach. We can sit down in the stairs, talking while seeing so pretty beach view.

Actually, I am so nervous! But I acted like normal and relaxed. And then we met, and I think she’s nervous also. Her name is Yuka. So Japanese (yeah of course!) But luckily, Yuka can speak English well.

I want to melt this nervous situation, and talked so much, you know! It’s really challenging for introvert like me. But it works. We finally not felt nervous again, and can talk naturally.

Our conversation mostly about university, because it was a most relate topic for us. We compare it about student in Indonesia and in Japan, also the building of the university. And, ya. I got surprised.

So, Japanese students are really busy from they start enter the senior high school. They go to school, and after that they should join the bukatsu or extracurricular. They join bukatsu, for everyday? Even weekend, they still go to school for bukatsu. Crazy. Because in my school, we just join the extracurricular once until three times a week, and of course no extra on weekend. Japanese school finish at 6 p.m. They can go to home, and some of them go to part time job?! Wow, amazing. Most of them are come back home at 10 p.m.

Ah, maybe not just from senior high school, Japanese student are already so busy start from preschool. Because they should learn so many characters. Hiragana, katakana, kanji, and romaji (alphabet). Oh man, when I was in school, I just need to learn alphabet and traditional Balinese character (aksara Bali) and it was so difficult. And now, even I am adult, I trying to learn hiragana and katakana characters, and still difficult to remember.

Then, we went to Sephora. I just have no idea where we should visit, so yeah, maybe it’s cute if girls go to cosmetic store and excited when find really cute lipsticks. And yeah, little bit cute.

Yeah, and then I went to home. It was a good hangout. Actually, it was not my first time to met Japanese friend. But, still really a good experience. After that day, Yuka and I went to so many places. I will write down later! Stay tune ya.
